What parents say

FAQs from parents

  • Is your tuition in-person or online?
We offer both online and in-person tuition. Online tuition is always available and in-person sessions are often available too, depending on your location. To learn more about the tutors we have available for you, simply submit an enquiry or give us a call.
  • Can I get a different tutor if ours isn't the right fit?
Yes! While it's rare for parents to request a different tutor, we understand that predicting an exact match between a tutor and student isn't always possible. Unlike other tuition services we offer a tutor satisfaction guarantee which means we'll replace your tutor for free so you can get the right tutor for you.
  • What's your cancellation policy?
We have a 12 hour cancellation policy for all lessons. This means that there's no fee charged on any lessons cancelled with more than 12 hours notice, whether you want to stop lessons permanently or in the short-term.
  • Do you offer free trials?
We offer free trials for most online lessons, just remember to quote the code ‘free trial’ during your introductory call so we can organise a trial session of your preferred subject.
  • Which subjects and exam boards do you cover?
We cover all academic subjects, for all ages and exam boards. To learn more about the tutors we have available, you can submit an enquiry or give us a call.
  • What's your cancellation policy?
In the long-term and short-term our cancellation policy stays the same. Just give us 12 or more hours notice and there will be no fee charged on the cancelled lesson. It's the same notice period if you'd like to cancel tuition for a student altogether.
  • Do you provide tuition in school hours or after school?
We can do both! We provide schools with tutors that come into schools in-person to work with a student on a 1:1 basis, at a time that works alongside their school timetable. We also provide online 1:1 tuition if an in-person tutor isn't available.
  • What type of support do you provide to schools?
We provide schools with teachers and LSAs and 1:1 tutors who provide bespoke support for students of all ages and abilities, including those on EHC plans. We also provide extracurricular talks to schools, which explore mental health and emotional wellbeing.
  • Do you provide ongoing support?
We stay involved even after staff have been assigned to schools, regardless of whether they are working as a tutor, LSA or a classroom teacher, in order to make sure that your time with Modern Tuition is as smooth as possible.
  • How do I pay?
All payments are made via online banking and never in cash. Our invoices are sent monthly and in arrears, so you only pay for the lessons you've had or those that are cancelled with less than 12 hours notice.
  • Can I pay using childcare vouchers?
We don't currently accept childcare vouchers as we are not a childcare provider and have no physical tuition centre.
  • How do I make a referral?
If your referral quotes your name in their introductory call, you can claim £10 off of your next invoice for each friend you successfully refer to us.
